About Me
Bill Allman is the General Manger and Chief Content/Creative Officer for www.HealthCentral.com, the second largest consumer health information network of Web sites, averaging more than 7MM Unique Visitors monthly.

Allman oversees more than two dozen Web sites, including major health portals such as www.healthsquare.com, www.drkoop.com, and www.healthscout.com, as well as dozens of newly-launched specialty sites focused on specific diseases and conditions. HealthCentral.com has one of the largest collections of health-related video, and has pioneered the development of user-generated content with the recruiting of more than a hundred "Expert Patients" who contribute insights from the point of view of people living with a disease.

Formerly Allman was Senior Vice President and General Manager of Interactive Media for Discovery.com, where his duties involved the strategic planning and day-to-day management of Discovery Communications, Inc.'s Web sites, as well as overseeing strategy and development for all ITV and Broadband applications.

Allman managed more than a dozen web sites for the Discovery Networks, including DiscoveryChannel.com, TLC.com, AnimalPlanet.com, TravelChannel.com, and DiscoveryHealth.com.

Previously, Allman was the founding general manager for the U.S. News & World Report's Web sites, and also responsible for launching U.S. News & World Report on Compuserve during the earliest days of Interactive Media. He was the host of the first live cybercast from the White House with then-Vice President Al Gore. Allman also developed U.S. News' first CD-ROM project, "Getting into College".

Allman began his career as a journalist, helping to create the award-winning magazine Science 80, a publication of the American Association for the Advancement of Science. He then moved to U.S. News & World Report as a senior writer and editor specializing in science and health.

Allman has a B.A. in English and a B.S. in Biology from Brown University.
