About Me
James W. Borton has an extensive international writing and publishing background. For several years, he has distinguished himself as a senior correspondent for The Washington Times filing reports on the peace agreement in the Philippines, conducting in-depth interviews with such leaders as former Philippines President Fidel Ramos, including Nur Misuari, the former Muslim rebel leader and also Hun Sen, the Prime Minister of Cambodia.
He has also served as a senior writer for SE Asia Projects for Foreign Policy magazine, published by the Carnegie Endowment for International Peace in Washington, D.C.
Borton is an independent journalist and director for special Asia Pacific Projects for Foreign Affairs, published in New York by the Council on Foreign Relations.
Prior to this, he has also served as the founding editor and publisher for New Asia Review (part of Greenwood Publishing) and as the group publisher/editor for Investment Dealers' Digest (now a part of Dow Jones & Co.) for their journals division: Directors & Boards, Mergers & Acquisitions. M&A International, (London Office) and Venture Japan (affiliate office in Tokyo).
As a frequent traveler to Vietnam, he has been a Research Fellow at the Hanoi School of Business and engaged in extensive research on the Internet and e-commerce prospects in the country. He is also a regular online correspondent for the Hong Kong-based Asia Times www.atimes.com
Borton's seminal book Venture Japan: How Growing Companies Worldwide Can Tap into the Japanese Venture Capital Markets, was published by Probus in January 1992. Presently, Borton is at work on a book entitled, Wired China: Technology’s Transformation. He also co-edits the award winning blog, www.ChinaVentureNews.com.
