Share your thoughts about how the newsroom of the future should be different . (And if you do, please post a copy of your answer in the forums).
More than the physical space, I think the newsroom of the future depends first on recruiting a diverse staff of student journalists, both in terms of socio economic experiences and racial backgrounds. I had a great experience working with some top-notch student journalists, but I think the challenge is always to make coverage inclusive of our colorful world. There was never a greater need for that than now at Duke. In terms of a building itself, it would be great to have both Macs and PCs set up in various pods. Also, lighting improvements would be awesome. I remember working in Flowers, it was relatively dark. I think some TVs in tthe office with constant news broadcasts on would be great. That would sort of duplicate the scene in a real newsroom.
