About Me
I direct the Center for Communication and Democracy, which conducts both studies and experiments in the new news ecology. One such experiment is the Madison Commons (www.madisoncommons.org), a collaborative citizen journalism project. I am also the principal of Community Knowledgebase, LLC, which is developing community network software for use in local newsrooms.
Share your thoughts about how the newsroom of the future should be different . (And if you do, please post a copy of your answer in the forums).
The largest question is whether the newsroom of the future will be built on the current for-profit model, or a non-profit hybrid. Regardless, community network management is likely to be at the heart of the next newsroom model. Newsrooms will still have the core task of reporting the news, but they will have to do this in a context of convening local networks.
