The Next Newsroom Project

Building the ideal newsroom for the next 50 years

Chris O'Brien

What would you like to see this project do in our next phase of research?

We've just about completed work on the first phase of this project. So what's next? I've got a few ideas, but I'd like to hear your feedback and suggestions. What questions do you have about the newsroom of the future? What does your newsroom need help transforming or changing? What information and conversations would be interesting and practical and helpful?

Hi,
I'm curious about the situation of student media groups other than the Chronicle. Have ideas for their working spaces been added into the proposal? I would like to really bring these groups and their needs into the forefront as they have consistently been neglected by the university. We are badly in need of computer work stations for magazines, a place for photography for either magazines or the Chanticleer, and serious storage for magazines (including defunct ones) and especially the Chanticleer. Meeting spaces would also benefit all these groups. I can only speak for the print publications, but I am sure that other student media have similar needs and concerns, and we would like to play an active role in this continuing dialogue.
